Vancouver Police are investigating a collision in a Kitsilano neighbourhood that killed one pedestrian and sent another person to hospital earlier this month.

The driver of a grey Mazda CX-5 collided with a white Toyota Prius near Balsam Street and West 4th Avenue on October 19 at around 6:45 p.m. As the two vehicles slid through the intersection, two pedestrians standing on the southeast corner were struck. Both pedestrians, a 53-year-old woman and 48-year-old man, were taken to hospital. At the time to the collision, their injuries did not appear life threatening.

After being admitted to hospital, the condition of the 53-year-old woman worsened and on October 25 she died from her injuries.

The drivers and passengers in the vehicles were uninjured.

VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit is investigating. Witnesses and drivers with dash-cam video are asked to call 604-717-3012.
