One man has been charged following multiple hit-and-run collisions yesterday morning that sent two people to hospital.

VPD officers were called just before 7 a.m. on January 16 after a 44-year-old man allegedly stole a taxi that had been left briefly unattended and running near Main and Terminal.

The thief drove toward Kingsway and East Broadway, where he struck a Tesla, then continued on to Fraser Street at East 37th, where he struck a pedestrian.

VPD officers located the stolen taxi at Main Street and Marine Drive and arrested the driver.

The 22-year-old pedestrian and a VPD officer were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Charles Disher has now been charged with one count each of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle and fail to remain at the scene of an accident.

Disher remains in custody until his next court date.
