Vancouver Police are investigating a fatal collision that killed a 66-year-old man last month, and are asking anyone who saw the collision or has video to contact investigators.

The victim was riding his electric kick scooter west on Union Street towards Main Street on March 7 just after 3 p.m., when he collided with an older box-style Dodge van in the east lane of Main Street. The driver of the van left the area before police arrived.

The victim was rushed to hospital, but two weeks after the collision, he succumbed to his injuries and died.

“VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit launched an investigation immediately and were able to locate the box van,” says Constable Tania Visintin. “Investigators now need to speak with the driver of the van, and anyone who saw the collision, or has dash-cam footage from the area were the collision occurred.”
