Vancouver – The Vancouver Police Department has notified the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) following a fatal collision in downtown Vancouver this afternoon.
At approximately 3 p.m., VPD officers were on foot in the 1000 block of Canada Place investigating a fraud. They attempted to speak with a male suspect in a vehicle, but he drove away. Less than a block from the scene, the vehicle was involved in a collision and the driver died. No one else was injured.
The IIO has assumed conduct of the investigation. Further requests for information can be directed to the IIO.
