Vancouver Police are supporting the decision by Crown Counsel to appeal the sentences of two men convicted of crimes they committed during the Stanley Cup riot.

Alexander Peepre, who plead guilty to participating in a riot and assault, was sentenced on September 13th. Lincoln Kennedy-Williams, who plead guilty to participating in a riot, was sentenced on September 21st.

“The dedicated prosecution team is doing an excellent job,” says Vancouver police Chief Jim Chu. “The police and Crown are working very well together and the VPD fully supports Crown’s decision to appeal the sentences for these rioters.”

As these matters are now before the Court of Appeal, the VPD will not be able to make any further comment.
