Vancouver Police are warning the public after a woman was sexually assaulted in downtown Vancouver early this morning.

Shortly before 3:00 a.m., a 25 year old Vancouver woman was waiting at a bus stop in the 600 block of Smithe Street when she was suddenly grabbed by a man and sexually assaulted in the east lane of the 900 block of Granville Street.

The woman’s screams for help were heard by two passersby who came to her aid, scaring her attacker off. He was last seen running away, north on Granville Street.

The woman was taken to hospital by paramedics for injuries to her face, back and leg.

The suspect was described as white, 25 to 30 years old, 5’10” tall, with a medium build.  He was wearing dark clothing and possibly blue jeans. Police believe that the man suffered scratches to the side of his face and nose during the attack.
