One man is recovering in hospital and another has been charged in a stabbing that occurred near Templeton High School.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m. on March 30th, a group were playing basketball on one of the outdoor courts of Templeton High School. One of them was approached by a man and stabbed several times in what appears to be an unprovoked attack. The 23 year old young man received stab wounds to his back and arm. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police attended and with the help of a K9 officer began tracking the suspect who ran from the scene. A 24 year old man was taken into custody shortly after.

The victim and suspect are not known to each other. While the motive for the stabbing is still unknown, it is not believed to be gang or drug related.  The victim remains in hospital in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.

Twenty-four year old Clifton Crowder, a resident of the United States, has now been charged with attempted murder. He remains in custody until his next appearance in Provincial Court at 9:30 on April 3rd.
