Vancouver Police are appealing to the public to help solve the mystery of a man captured on video committing what is believed to be a violent assault of a woman.
The video was captured on February 2, 2015, around 5:00 a.m., in the 2200 block of Commercial Drive. The incident was not reported to police by the victim. The VPD became aware of the assault after someone at a local business found that it had been recorded on a security camera and turned it over to police.
Police have conducted a number of investigative steps in an attempt to identify the man and woman who were captured on the video, but neither party has been identified.
Investigators are looking for a white man, aged 25 to 40, with a medium build. He was wearing dark Adidas track pants, a grey zip-up hoodie, a light-billed baseball cap, and a dark hiking-style backpack with white markings.
The victim was an Aboriginal or Asian woman, 30 to 50 years old, with short dark hair, a grey long-sleeved shirt, black pants and a white shirt.
Anyone with information about this incident, or anyone who knows the identity of this man, is asked to call the Vancouver Police at (604) 717-0602 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222 8477.
