Vancouver Police are working to establish a motive in Wednesday’s double homicide and, out of an abundance of caution, are reminding the public to be vigilant and report suspicious behaviour to police.
Police have identified the victims as married couple Dianna Mah-Jones, 65, and Richard Jones, 68, of Vancouver. Detectives have not yet confirmed if the incident was targeted or random.
“This investigation is a top priority for the VPD,” says Constable Jason Doucette. “There is nothing so far to suggest this was anything but a random crime. That’s why we are asking the public to look out for one another, and report anything suspicious to 9-1-1.”
Police were called to a home on West 64th Avenue near Hudson Street on Wednesday, September 27, around 1:30 p.m., to check on the well-being of the residents.
Officers from VPD’s Homicide Unit, along with many other police resources, are working around-the-clock to solve this crime.
Anyone who may have information about these deaths is asked to call 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
