Vancouver Police are focusing their efforts on New Brighton Park today in the search for evidence in the disappearance of 37-year-old Su Yi Liang. Police want to hear from people who visited the park on January 8, 2018, and who may have seen Ms. Liang’s 2014 BMW i3.
Ms. Liang, a Vancouver resident, was reported missing to police on Wednesday, January 10, after she failed to pick-up her children from school. The VPD’s Major Crime Section took over the investigation, and have determined that Ms. Liang went missing on Monday, January 8, before noon.
Evidence collected by police shows Ms. Liang’s 2014 grey, electric, BMW i3 in the parking lot of New Brighton Park in East Vancouver on January 8, just after noon. Officers located her car at the Rupert Park Pitch & Putt three days later, on January 11.
“We have determined that Ms. Liang went missing during the morning of Monday, January 8th,” says VPD Constable Jason Doucette. “Detectives have also confirmed Ms. Liang’s BMW i3 was at New Brighton Park within hours of her disappearance. It’s important we speak with anyone who may have seen her electric car in the parking lot.”
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Ms. Liang, and her activities leading up to Monday, January 8, as well as anyone who may have seen someone driving her BMW i3 until January 11, is asked to contact the VPD’s Major Crime Section at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
