Grandview Highway is expected to remain closed until approximately 4 p.m. today following a collision this morning.

Two people suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision, which occurred just before 6:00 a.m. on Grandview Highway near Penticton Street. It appears a grey Ford Focus and a black Mercedes SUV collided head-on just over the centre line of the four-lane highway. Three occupants of the Ford, and four from the Mercedes, were taken to hospital with a variety of injuries.

The 20-year-old male driver of Ford, and his 19-year-old female passenger, have life-threatening injuries. The third occupant has serious, but what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. All three occupants are Burnaby residents.

The 54-year-old man from Richmond driving the Mercedes, and his three passengers aged, 48, 59, and 70, all suffered relatively minor injuries.
