Vancouver Police are investigating a collision in East Vancouver that sent seven people to hospital, two with serious injuries.

A collision occurred just before 6:00 a.m. on Grandview Highway near Penticton Street. It appears a grey Ford Focus and a black Mercedes SUV collided head-on just over the centre line of the four-lane highway. Three occupants of the Ford, and four from the Mercedes, were taken to hospital with a variety of injuries. At least two people are in serious condition.

Officers from the VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit have closed Grandview Highway between Nanaimo and Penticton Streets while they conduct their investigation into what may have led to the collision. The road is expected to re-open later this morning.
