Update: March 6, 2019

Vancouver Police have recovered a portion of the wigs that were stolen during a break-in earlier this week.

On September 7, just after 3:30 a.m., someone broke into the Eva and Company Wigs at 950 West Broadway and made off with an estimated 150 wigs made from human hair. Many of the wigs were destine for cancer patients at BC Children’s Hospital.

Officers received a call at around 10 p.m. on Thursday night that a bag of wigs was located in a hotel hallway in the Downtown Eastside. The VPD has seized the wigs and are continuing their investigation. No arrests have been made.

“The person who located the bag of wigs immediately linked them to the media coverage about the theft and called 9-1-1,” says VPD Constable Jason Doucette. “Although we’ve recovered a portion of the wigs, the investigation remains a priority. We would like to get the remainder of the property back and make an arrest in this case.”

Anyone with information about the suspect, or the location of the rest of the stolen wigs, is asked to call VPD Property Crime investigators at 604-717-0610 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
