Police were called to a west side neighbourhood after receiving a report of a break-and-enter in progress. A resident who was out of the country was watching someone inside their Vancouver home via their security surveillance system. They contacted their neighbor to call the police.

When officers arrived at the home, the suspect was still inside. As he exited through the garage, he was confronted by police. The suspect fled on foot but was taken into custody a short distance away with the help of a Canine Unit. He was arrested for break-and-enter and possession of break-in tools, and taken to jail.
