A man was recently found in a lane downtown suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to hospital and underwent surgery for a fractured hip. Investigators canvassed for surveillance video in the area and found a clear image of the suspect believed to be responsible for the serious assault.
The image was distributed to all police officers in the city. A heads-up officer from the Neighbourhood Response Team recognized him as someone he had encountered a few days previous. Officers located the suspect and he was arrested.
The victim, who is autistic, is still recovering in hospital.
