Just after noon on January 14, two officers on patrol saw a man without a shirt in the middle of a downtown intersection. They stopped the man and learned that he had a warrant for his arrest. When the officers told him he was going to be arrested, the man began to fight with them.
During the struggle, the suspect allegedly tried to grab an officer’s gun. A bystander stepped in to help keep control of the man until additional officers arrived.
An ambulance was called, as the suspect had symptoms of excited delirium. One of the officers was treated in hospital after being bitten twice by the suspect.
The suspect is facing possible charges of assault a peace officer and attempting to disarm.
