Vancouver Police are investigating the city’s 16th homicide of the year after a woman’s body was found in the trunk of a white Toyota Corolla in the 8300 block of Chester Street on July 30th.
A man working in the area called 9-1-1 around 9:20 a.m. to report that the vehicle had been unattended for days. A police check of the license plate revealed that the car was associated to a Burnaby RCMP missing persons file. Members arrived and searched the car, finding the body of a deceased woman in the trunk.
Vancouver Police Major Crime Homicide investigators are heading up the investigation and liaising closely with Burnaby RCMP. An autopsy will be scheduled in the next couple of days and investigators are working to determine the identity of the victim and notify next of kin. The car has been taken to the police station for forensic testing.
Investigators are not making any links to the ongoing investigation into the murder of a woman whose body was recovered from the Fraser River in the 9100 block of Bentley St. on July 23rd.
