Update

November 6th – A man in his late 20’s has been killed in what Vancouver Police are calling a targeted shooting. The man’s identity is not being released until next of kin are notified; however, police are confirming that he is known to them, and is suspected of having gang links.

The brazen daytime shooting occurred in front of many startled witnesses at the intersection of Ash Street and West 7th Avenue around 9:30 Sunday morning. The victim was reportedly out walking his dog when he was fatally shot. Good Samaritans rushed to provide assistance to the man, and the first police officers arriving on scene administered CPR, but he could not be revived.

An intense area search for the suspect was launched after the alleged gunman fled on foot. No arrests have been made.

The VPD Homicide Unit is investigating and working to develop an accurate suspect description from the many witness interviews currently underway.

The area around West 7th Avenue and Ash Street remains behind police tape this afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the VPD Major Crime Section at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
