Vancouver Police continue to investigate a troubling set of suspicious circumstances reported yesterday by a 14-year-old.

The young girl informed police that at about 8:40 a.m. while walking in the area of 17th Avenue and Fraser Street she noticed two men in a grey mini-van described as having square or boxy contours honking at her. She looked back and saw two men inside gesturing for her to come to the van. She ignored them and continued to walk when she said the driver of the van got out, called for her to get into the van and started to follow behind her while the other man remained inside the vehicle.

Scared for her safety, the girl went into a nearby coffee shop. About a minute later, the man also entered the same coffee shop, but said nothing and made no attempt to grab or touch the girl. He eventually left on his own.

Police have seized video from the area and are attempting to identify the van and the suspicious man, who was described as white, 6′ tall with a medium to heavy build, 50 to 55 years old, wearing blue jeans a black toque and dark hoodie under a green zip-up jacket.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the VPD Sex Crimes Unit at (604) 717-2634 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
