Vancouver Police are issuing a public warning after three men allegedly attempted to abduct a girl while she was walking near Lakewood and East Pender Street.

At about 12:15 p.m. on October 29th, a 16 year old Vancouver girl was walking in the area of Templeton High School when she was approached by three suspicious men in a blue van. The men yelled at the girl, attempting to convince her to get in the van.

The girl, who was not physically injured, ran to the safety of a nearby store where she called 9-1-1.

Officers responded and conducted an extensive search of the area but the suspects and van were not located. Investigators from the Vancouver Police Robbery Assault and Arson Unit have been called in to investigate and residents of the neighbourhood may see officers in the area throughout the day as they canvass for information.

The van is described as an “electric blue work van” with white and black lettering on the side and a sliding door on the left side.

The driver is described as a South Asian man in his late 20s to early 30s, with a small medium build, stubble on his face and wearing all black clothing.

There is no description of the other two men, other than they were also wearing black clothing.

Vancouver Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident or who may have information to contact the Vancouver Police Robbery Assault and Arson Unit at (604) 717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
