On New Year’s Eve and the weekend leading up to it, the Vancouver Police Department took 68 suspected impaired drivers off the road.
It appears that most New Year’s Eve celebrants planned a safe ride home, resulting in fewer driving prohibitions and suspensions being issued by police.
Throughout 2012, community safe driving campaigns, the use of transit and the public’s efforts to leave their cars at home when consuming drugs or alcohol, all played a role in working to keep the streets safe.
In 2013, the Vancouver Police Department will continue to take drunk drivers off the road so everyone gets home safely.
