Beginning this weekend, Vancouver Police are partnering with boating safety advocates to promote safety on the water.

On May 18th, 2013, the VPD Marine Unit officially launched Safe Boating Awareness Week, a national campaign that runs through May 24th.

Traditionally the long weekend of May marks the beginning of recreational boating season.

“There are risks on the water,” says Sergeant Norm Webster of the Vancouver Police Marine Unit. “We want to continue to raise awareness about these risks to ensure that the thousands of boaters, sailors and paddlers are prepared to enjoy themselves safely.”
