Yesterday afternoon, a Twitter follower provided the Vancouver Police with a link to a YouTube video that appears to have been filmed in the Granville Entertainment District and depicts two men being paid money to subject themselves to being violently kicked.

The disturbing video has been forwarded to an investigative team so they may review the incident.
Taking advantage of another person with the promise of money to compensate them for injury is distasteful and extremely concerning.

Although a person does have the right to consent to being hit, the actions leading up to and following the kick are being investigated as a criminal offence.

Police have now identified both men in the video that were kicked.

Earlier today, the man believed to be responsible contacted police and is cooperating with the investigation.

Police are looking to speak with the many witnesses that appear to have been standing by as these two men were kicked, and are asking that any video of the incident be shared with the VPD investigators.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident, and has not yet spoken to police, is asked to call the Vancouver Police Department at (604) 717-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222 8477.
