The Vancouver Police Department has referred an investigation to BC’s Independent Investigations Office (IIO) after a man was found unconscious in a police wagon, following his arrest.
Around 5:00 this evening, police arrested a 43-year-old Vancouver man for breaching his court-imposed conditions at an apartment in the 2100 block of Triumph Street. The man was transported to the Vancouver Jail in a police wagon. When the wagon arrived at the jail, the man was found unconscious.
Medical staff at the jail worked to resuscitate the man who was subsequently rushed to the hospital by paramedics. He remains in hospital in stable condition.
As the investigation is ongoing, any further media inquiries should be directed to the IIO.
