A prolific distracted driver has lost his licence and his car following an investigation into his high-risk driving behaviour.

Since 2010, the driver has received 26 violation tickets for distracted driving offences involving the use of an electronic device. In February of this year, the driver had his license suspended for two months by Superintendent of Motor Vehicles.  On March 30th, the driver was once again stopped in Vancouver for using an electronic device while driving, was ticketed and arrested for driving while prohibited. The driver will also be looking for an alternate means of transportation, after his car was impounded for seven days.

“There are some drivers who are still not getting the message that distracted drivers are putting everyone’s safety at risk,” says VPD Inspector Les Yeo. “We will continue to use the tools available under the Motor Vehicle Act, to make sure your loved ones make it home safely.”
