A Vancouver Police Officer remains in hospital recovering from injuries after being struck by a car at Cypress and Cornwall Street.

Early this afternoon, the motorcycle officer was escorting an anti-pipeline demonstration through Vancouver in an effort to keep those participating safe. He was struck by a driver who made a U-turn into his path.

The collision knocked the officer from his motorcycle resulting in a several injuries. He was taken to hospital and found to have suffered a fracture to his knee. The injuries will require surgery to repair the damage.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
