Around 8:30 a.m. today, police received reports of a man with an axe who threatened another man on Main Street near East 51st Avenue.
When police arrived, they received information that the alleged victim had left the area and the man with the axe had gone into a home on East 51st at Main.
Police are attempting to negotiate with the man, who is now believed to be alone in the residence, after other occupants were evacuated.
Main Street at East 51st Avenue remains closed pending a safe resolution of the incident.
