A pedestrian struck at a downtown intersection  12 days ago has now died as a result of his injuries.

Shortly after noon on January 16th, police attended to a man who was struck by a van at the intersection of Davie and Thurlow Street. The 79-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital suffering from a head injury. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigators.

The victim remained in hospital, but unfortunately never recovered. He was pronounced dead earlier today.

The case remains under investigation by the VPD Collision Investigation Unit, but alcohol and speed are not considered contributing factors. This is the second traffic related fatality in Vancouver in 2015.
