Two people are dead and three others injured after a single-car collision in the city’s downtown core.
Shortly before 5:30 this afternoon, the driver of a white Lexus traveling north on Seymour Street lost control of the vehicle. The driver left the road, struck a large tree and then a lamp post at Davie Street.
The two occupants of the car, one man and one woman, were both killed instantly.
Three pedestrians, all men, were struck by the falling tree and flying debris. All were taken to hospital. One of the men was treated for lacerations while the two others suffered significant injuries and remain in hospital.
Investigators continue to probe the circumstances of the collision, but speed will be a contributing factor.
