Update: October 9, 2016

The VPD are still searching for 92-year-old Shou Peng Chen and want residents to check their properties.

Mr. Chen left his home near Kingsway Avenue and Earles Street around noon on Tuesday, October 4th, and did not return. Public appeals to help find him and searches around his home have failed to turn up any sign of the missing man.

With the passing of another day and the poor weather conditions, concern for his well-being continues to grow.

The investigation has led police to believe Mr. Chen was last in the area of West 64th Avenue and Granville Street on the evening of October 4th at about 6:00. It is not known if he has continued to travel around the city or if he has possibly taken shelter from the elements.

Police are asking that all residents in Vancouver and surrounding municipalities, particularly those living in the South Vancouver area, to search the outside of their property including vehicles, sheds, and other buildings.

Mr. Chen is Asian, 5’5″ tall, weighs 110 lbs., has short, grey hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark brown jacket, blue jeans, black runners, and carrying a black wooden cane. Mr. Chen only speaks Cantonese and is known to frequent Chinatown and Richmond.

Anyone who sees Shou Chen should call 9-1-1 immediately, ask for police and ambulance, and stay with him until officers arrive.
