Vancouver Police have partnered with ICBC for their pedestrian safety campaign to help raise awareness around the increase in pedestrian related crashes during the approaching winter months.

Pedestrians are some of our most vulnerable road users. Regardless of who may be at fault in a collision, even those that occur at low speeds, the injuries to a pedestrian involved in a crash can be life-altering or fatal.

As the days get shorter and the weather gets worse, VPD officers will be out educating all road users on how to help keep everyone safe. Officers will also continue to conduct enforcement directed at drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians for offences that put themselves and others at risk.

“Everyone plays a role to ensure people get to where they are going safely,” says VPD Sergeant Brian Montague. “We continue to ask drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians to follow the rules, pay attention, and to be courteous and respectful to other road users.”
