The Vancouver Police Department is proud to introduce the Retired Police Officer Program (RPOP), a temporary contract opportunity for retired officers to return to operational policing in a meaningful and flexible capacity.
RPOP allows retired members to continue serving the community, mentor younger officers, and remain connected to frontline policing – without the commitment of a full-time career. For a list of current positions, please click the “Apply Now!” button.
Additional Information for All Positions
- Ability to work callouts and overtime; overtime opportunities will be first offered to regular members
- Mandatory callouts will be assigned to regular members first; RPOP members will be assigned if shifts remain to be staffed
- RPOP members will receive 10 sick days (80 hours) per year, with unused hours rolled over to the following year
- RPOP members will receive compensation for any statutory holiday worked; RPOP members will not receive compensation for statutory holidays that fall on their scheduled days off
- These are fixed positions, and RPOP members will not be permitted to apply for regular job postings at this time
