Vancouver Police are appealing to the public for information in an incident that left a 66 year old man confined to a wheel-chair and unable to communicate. In November of last year, the man was found lying unconscious and badly injured below a fire escape in cold, wet lane on the Downtown Eastside. How he came to be there still remains a mystery but his injuries appear to be consistent with a fall from a significant height.

Since police first appealed to the public for help in the case the investigation has taken a new turn after it was discovered that someone accessed the man’s bank account in January and purchased a large quantity of goods in the Downtown Eastside area.

Police are today releasing a photograph of a person of interest in the case and hoping the public will be able to help identify the man.

Anyone with information is asked to call the VPD Robbery/Assault Squad at (604) 717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
