Vancouver Police are on scene at a house in the unit block West 17th Avenue after construction workers found what they believe to be old blasting caps during their renovations earlier today.
The house was cordoned off and the Vancouver Police Explosives Disposal Unit has been called in to assess the material and remove it from the home.
Every precaution is being taken to ensure the safety of everyone in the immediate area and the lane behind the house is currently blocked off. Efforts to safely destroy the material may last into the evening.
