The Vancouver Police Department is releasing the impaired driving statistics from the fifth weekend of the summer roadblock campaign.

VPD roadblock crews were on the lookout for impaired drivers on July 26th and 27th and in those two nights issued 39 prohibitions, compared to 86 on the same weekend of 2011. In the two nights, officers administered 205 tests. Of the 39 impaired drivers, six received Immediate Roadside Suspensions (IRP) “fail” sanctions, 17 received IRP “warn” sanctions, one person received IRP sanctions for refusing to blow into the Approved Screening Device, 11 received 24-hour prohibitions, two received a 24-hour prohibition for impairment by drugs, and two new drivers received 12-hour prohibitions.
