The Vancouver Police Department has requested that BC’s Independent Investigation Office (IIO) investigate after a Vancouver Police officer was involved in a shooting.

Around 8:15 p.m. on October 29th, police responded to a 9-1-1 call of windows being smashed in the 400 block of Skeena Street.

When the first officer arrived, he was confronted by a man who was holding a knife. The man was subsequently shot by police. He was taken to hospital by paramedics where he died.

East Hastings Street between Cassiar and Skeena will likely remain closed to eastbound traffic throughout the morning as the IIO conducts it’s investigation.
