The Vancouver Police Department would like to invite women to attend the upcoming Women’s Safety Fair, which will feature a women’s only personal safety demonstration by VPD tactical training specialists and numerous information booths sponsored by community experts in personal safety and support services.

Langara College located at 100 West 49 Avenue in Vancouver

EVENT DETAILS
The Vancouver Police Department and community partners are hosting the second annual Women’s Safety Fair on February 8, 2013. The fair will feature a women’s only personal safety demonstration by VPD tactical training specialists, and numerous information booths sponsored by community experts in personal safety and support services.

INFORMATION BOOTHS AND EXPERTS
MAIN LOBBY ENTRANCE OF BUILDING “A” (Enter off of East 49 Avenue)
12:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Attendees will be invited to stop by the many booths being sponsored by partner agencies. Hear from dedicated experts who provide practical support and information to people affected by domestic violence, child abuse, sexual offences, street-level violence, elder abuse, internet luring and more. The many experts on hand will be available to speak in person, or to follow up after the fair on a more personal basis.

COMMUNITY DISCUSSIONS
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
There will be discussions relating to ways that we as a community can challenge violence against women.

SAFETY DEMONSTRATION & DISCUSSION
2:00 PM – 4:30 PM BUILDING “G”
This interactive demonstration will build upon the personal safety practices and knowledge that many women already follow, and provide an opportunity for feedback from police experts in the field.
