Update

Vancouver Police are releasing video of a van and a composite drawing of a person of interest in relation to last week’s violent assault of a sex trade worker.

At about 8:00 p.m. on March 4th, a man picked up a 42 year old woman in the Downtown Eastside. He drove to a secluded area where it is alleged that he beat her and tied her up.

Approximately 30 minutes later, police received several 9-1-1 calls when they observed a woman being dragged by a van on Clark Street near 13th Avenue. The woman had managed to partially free herself and, fearing for her life, had jumped from the moving van.

Police conducted an extensive search of the area, but were unable to locate the suspect or the van.

The man was described as white with a tanned complexion, balding with a moustache or goatee and he may have an Australian accent.

His van was described as a white panel van with roof racks.

Anyone who has information regarding the possible identity of this man, or the van, is asked to call the Vancouver Police Major Crime Section at (604) 717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
