An early morning stabbing on Denman Street has sent a woman to hospital with serious injuries.
The woman was violently attacked inside the 7-Eleven convenience store at Denman and Comox Street at 5:30. She suffered multiple stab wounds and was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
The suspect, a 39 year old Vancouver man, was wrestled to the ground by witnesses and was held until police arrived. The man is known to police and charges have not yet been laid.
The victim, a 30 year old Vancouver woman, remains in hospital in stable condition.
Investigators from the Vancouver Police Major Crime Section and the Forensic Identification Unit will be at the scene throughout the morning.
The motive for the attack is unclear, but appears to be random as the man and woman were not known to one another. More details will be released as they become available.
