Contributing to Lives of Inner City Kids (CLICK), in partnership with the Vancouver Police Department, is spearheading Vancouver’s 10th Annual Inner City Kids Week from May 13th to 17th, 2013.

The week kicks off on May 13th at 10:45 a.m. with the annual Pulling for Inner City Kids tug-of-war tournament at the Vancouver Art Gallery. The tournament features high school teams from across the city, captained by their VPD School Liaison officer.

B.C. has the second highest child poverty rate in Canada, and a local charitable foundation is challenging Vancouverites to respond and support children in Vancouver whose lives are deeply affected by poverty.

CLICK is a registered, community-based charitable foundation that works to ensure inner city kids in Vancouver aren’t forgotten and supports programs that can make a tremendous difference in their lives. This includes breakfast programs, out-of-school care, literacy, music and theatre programs.

“The VPD is a strong supporter of programs that benefit youth, especially those that struggle everyday just to get by. Our School Liaison officers take great pride in providing a positive adult role model for inner city kids,” says VPD Inspector Ralph Pauw. “We participate with kids daily in sports and academic programs. Most importantly, we want kids to know that we are there to keep them safe.”
