Nearly 250 kids, aged six to 17, have participated in the VPD Youth Soccer Camp being held this week at Strathcona Park.

The Vancouver Police Department and Vancouver Whitecaps FC have partnered to deliver this 25th annual event, which runs from July 2nd through July 5th, culminating in a final-day visit from Whitecaps FC players who will host a World Cup-style mini-competition.

The camp is put on by the Vancouver Police Soccer and Service Club, with the generous support of Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the Vancouver Police Foundation. Once again, Whitecaps FC players will help coach and mentor the kids while overseeing the 20 to 25 volunteer police coaches each day at the camp.

During the four-day camp, the children will be treated to appearances by the VPD Motorcycle Drill Team, the Mounted Squad and the Dog Squad, and will receive personal safety presentations from a number of School Liaison officers.
