Police continue to investigate the shooting that occurred last night in East Vancouver and sent a 29 year old Vancouver man to hospital.
Shortly after 8:00 p.m., police were called to the area of E. 17th Avenue near Fraser Street after witnesses reported hearing gunfire. Officers arrived at the scene and quickly located the victim who was rushed to hospital by ambulance.
The Vancouver Police Forensic Identification Unit has completed a detailed examination of the scene and investigators with the VPD Major Crime Section have been assigned to the case.
It is still early in the investigation and while the motive has not been confirmed, indications are the shooting was targeted. The victim is known to police and remains in serious condition. There have been no arrests made and the investigation is on-going.
