Around 4:45 yesterday afternoon, a security guard at Kingsgate Mall confronted an alleged female shoplifter after she exited the Dollar Land store.
Allegedly, the shoplifter produced a knife and slashed the security guard in the arm.
The woman then left the mall, followed by a witness.
Police found the woman a short distance away and took her into custody without incident. The 29 year old Vancouver woman was arrested for aggravated assault and weapons related offences.
The security guard, a 37 year old Coquitlam man, was rushed to hospital with a serious injury to his arm. The man remains in hospital in stable condition.
