Thanks to a Vancouver resident who made the quick decision to call 9-1-1, Vancouver Police arrested a man after he allegedly broke into someone’s home.

Shortly before 4:30 yesterday afternoon, the resident of a Vancouver neighbourhood heard several loud bangs and a house alarm go off. The man immediately picked up the phone and called police.

Officers quickly arrived and confronted a man leaving the rear of a near-by home that had been broken into. He immediately went back into the house and tried to flee out the front. He ran into the path of additional officers who took him into custody.

When the man was arrested, police recovered items believed to have been taken from the home.

“This is a great example of neighbours looking out for neighbours” says VPD Constable Brian Montague. “If you see something, say something, and say it to 9-1-1 first.”

Charges have been requested against a 33 year old Burnaby man with a lengthy criminal history.
