Police have arrested three men in connection with a series of thefts perpetrated by fake cops.

Since September 17th, 13 incidents have been reported to police where two men identified themselves as police officers and showed tourists a fake badge. An Asian man, playing along with the two men and posing as a “victim,” encouraged the tourists to hand over their wallets and passports to the fake officers. After a few minutes, the “officers” returned the items to the victims, and the victims would later realize their money was missing.

All of the incidents took place in tourist destinations throughout downtown Vancouver.

Police will be recommending charges of theft and impersonating a police officer against the trio of police imposters.

Anyone with information about these thefts is asked to call the Vancouver Police non-emergency number at (604) 717-3321.
