The scooter rider involved in a collision with a sport utility vehicle on East Cordova Street at Hawks Avenue on Saturday has died as a result of his injuries.

On March 7th around 2:45 p.m., a SUV was travelling north on Hawks Avenue through Cordova street when it collided with an eastbound, two wheel electric scooter. The scooter rider was thrown to the ground where he suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he later died.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation.

Speed, alcohol and distracted driving do not appear to be factors in the crash.

This is Vancouver’s 4th traffic related fatality in 2015.
