If you are planning on purchasing tickets on Craigslist for a concert, you may find yourself standing outside the event unable to get in, and out-of-pocket for the money you spent.
Police get reports of fake or fraudulently purchased tickets at every event in Vancouver. This type of fraud is rampant. Those who purchase fake tickets online have no idea they are not legitimate, and don’t discover it until they arrive for the concert.
“There are many people who are involved in the sale of fake and fraudulent tickets,” says Constable Brian Montague. “The only way to ensure you get into a concert is to buy tickets through a legitimate retailer, reputable ticket brokers, or resellers that offer a guarantee.”
If you do purchase tickets on Craigslist, consider only buying those available through the ticket company’s electronic transfer service. Purchasers could also meet the seller at the event to have the tickets scanned at the door, and make payment after event personnel verify the tickets and allow entry.
