Detectives with the VPD Special Investigation Section are investigating an attack on a young woman that occurred yesterday morning in East Vancouver.

At about 4:30 a.m. on May 19, 2016, an 18-year-old woman was walking along East 8th Avenue between Rupert and Renfrew Street when she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her and pulled her to the ground.

The woman screamed and fought off her attacker who fled from the area.

The incident was reported to police and the investigation is continuing.

A suspect has not yet been identified.
