The VPD are searching for a high-risk offender who is wanted Canada-wide.
Forty-seven-year-old Richard Thomas Galt is serving a sentence of three years, 8 months and 14 days for uttering threats, break-and-enter, fail to comply with his probation, and being unlawfully at large.
Galt has failed to return to his halfway house and a Canada-wide warrant has now been issued for his arrest.
The accused has a diverse and lengthy criminal record, with four prior convictions of sexual assault. His victims were female children and adults. He also has convictions for assault, driving while disqualified, obstruction, failure to comply with court orders, unlawfully in dwelling house, break-and-enter, theft, robbery, uttering threats, personating a peace officer, and mischief.
Robert Galt is Aboriginal, 5’10” tall, 240 lbs., with salt-and-pepper hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, black jeans, and a white t-shirt, and has tribal tattoos on his right forearm, and a wizard and grim reaper on his left forearm.
Anyone who sees Robert Galt is asked not to approach him and call 9-1-1 immediately.
