One man is dead and a police officer is in hospital after being stabbed in an alleged robbery at an East Vancouver Canadian Tire store.
Shortly after 3:00 this afternoon, a man entered the Canadian Tire near Grandview Hwy and Rupert Street, and police were then called to a robbery in progress. During the incident a store employee was stabbed.
Police arrived and confronted the suspect as he ran from the store. During the arrest the man stabbed a VPD officer multiple times. Police shot the suspect and he died at the scene.
The officer and the Canadian Tire employee were rushed to hospital as multiple police officers searched the store for any additional suspects and victims.
The injured officer and store employee are in stable condition in hospital.
The IIO has been notified of the incident.
